!! Happy 50th Birthday !!

BartCop turns 50 today, I do believe. And he's in Vegas for the weekend - lucky so-and-so!

Seriously, dude, I hope you get one (but not both) of your new trophies this weekend. And that you have lots of fun at the Horsehoe. I hope to see downtown Vegas once again sometime in the near future, too.

Bring back some exciting adventures from your trip! And have some fun today...

No Flooding the Zone Today

Apparently, Ezra was busy with a little something called reality and couldn’t manage to squeeze the extra 12 hours a week (at least) he puts into putting that function together for the Fashionable Left Bank of BlogistanTM each week.

Then again, I guess you could utilize that function to do your own letter to the editor yourselves. If you had a handy place to find a link to the astroturf site, say. In a links zone on a web page that hopefully is worth the wait for it to load on dialup...

The Funny Farm Fry(with a Why?)day Top Five Posts of the Week

Thursday September 11, 2003 Gregorian
Fryday 16 Halimath, 2003 Hobbit

[... man running through backyard, past barking dog chained to a doghouse (Dog keeps on tugging at leash), and up to a desk sitting in front of a group of mailboxes being filled by a mailman. He runs up to the desk, picks up a piece of paper on the desk, and announces to the camera (talking very fast with the dog continuing to bark in the background)...]

This is the Ghost of Bill Sprint with the Funny Farm Fry(with a Why?)day Top Five Posts of the Week:

Number Five - Funnsylvannia's September Tenth post;

Number Four - Mike Finley's Hate America Firsters;

[quick cut to dog, still barking and tugging on leash. Doghouse now appears to be starting to come loose...]

Number Three - This is Class Warfare's Cautionary Tales;

Number Two - Calpundit's Yes, John Lott Again...;

[quick cut to dog, still barking and tugging on leash.
Doghouse comes loose, dog's barking changes tone, and dog runs off camera towards mailboxes, with the dog house trailing behind...]

And the Number One Post of the Week - Liberal Oasis' Dem Debate Observations.

[Mailman hurriedly finishes filling the mailboxes, then jumps in postal vehicle and starts driving off-camera]

This has been the Ghost of Bill Sprint with the Funny Farm Fry(with a Why?)day Top Five Posts of the Week.

[... dog enters frame, running towards Bill, with dog house in tow. Bill jumps up from the desk and starts running away from the dog, finally catches postal vehicle, and thumbs his nose at dog as he rides off screen...]

Two Years Later

Finally, an official report on the EPA coverup of the toxic cloud created by the destruction of the WTC towers. Gee, I wonder why Christine Todd Whitman resigned as head of the EPA just before this report became public? Maybe she got an advance copy, and decided to create her own Fortress of Solitude to hide in? She'll probably still see all their faces in her nightmares, though.

The whole tort reform and lawsuit cap legislation that the BFEE is pushing also looks a little different in the light of this information. Gee, do you think they might be concerned with everyone who has been in Manhattan since 9-11 suing their asses because they pressured the EPA into saying everything is fine?

The more that comes out, the worse it looks for Drinky McDumbAss and the God SquadTM. I wonder how long before we get to Red Alert? I'm thinking right around the time of the Repugnicant National Convention...

Anyways,... I also think everyone should take a look at Mark Fiore's cartoon today. And Tom Tole's cartoon today. Remember, and note that even today pResident Whistle Ass and the rest of the junta exploit this tragedy for their own partisan purposes. Remember how badly the country was in the crapper just before we were attacked. Take note that, even though Tipsy McStagger constantly reminds us that everything has changed since 9-11, he still manages to take a whole month off from conducting the business of running the country every year. He still manages to believe that supply-side economics is actually a viable theory. And he is still trying to convince us that tax cuts will solve all of our problems.

Especially remember how convenient this whole terrorist attack thingy has been for the 1600 Crew. And how they refuse to even consider the possibility that they might be wrong about anything. How could they be? They're on a mission from God...

The Ghost of Bill SprintTM is almost ready to come out once more this week, as we debut The Funny Farm Fry(with a Why?)day Top Five Posts of the Week. Stay tuned, kiddies...

The More Things Change

So, Commander Codpiece wants more money for his wealthy cronies rebuilding Iraq. But he won’t tell us where the original 79 billion dollars went. And we can’t ask – it’s all classified. And he’s really really sorry about all the cheese eating surrender monkey stuff. And the chocolate making nations crack by one of his minions. So it’s okay to bring in some U.N. cannon fodder troops. As long as they’re under American control, that is.

There’s no better way to kick off the second annual Patriot Day celebrations than that! Well – maybe another unwarranted invasion based on trumped up propaganda would be better. Look at how well we’ve done with the first two!

It is simply amazing to me that this pResident (and I do use that word loosely in this case), who has had the most vacation time of any chief executive in American history, has wasted two of the very small number of days he actually claimed to be working creating national holidays. Patriot Day and Loyalty Day have to rank right up there with, oh, Wash Your Dog Day or The Dwarf Tossing Festival as relevant and worthwhile celebrations. And they only cost the American taxpayer a few million dollars each! Not even as much as it cost to put a Bush propaganda letter in with the first tax rebates. Or send out the White House Christmas cards last year. Good thing the 1600 Crew (thanks for the meme, Jo Fish!) is extra vigilant about government waste, responsibly assuming responsibility for their mistakes, and open and aboveboard in their handling of the country. (cough)

Thanks, Putsch!

Whistle Ass Strategery

A Quick Note

I haven’t had much ambition or much inspiration lately. I was going to talk about pRezNit CrotchStrap’s pep talk Sunday night, but others have already covered it. I can add nothing more to the discussion, so instead of jumping on the pile, let me just say that these thieves are asking for Pinhead’s first tax rebate back from each and every one of us. Even if we didn’t get it in the first place.

Doesn’t it make you proud to be a sponsor of corporate welfare? Maybe we should replace the thieving welfare queen with the greedy executroid as our nation’s welfare poster child? Quick, somebody contact Ken Lay!

Technical Difficulties

I have heard through the grapevine that Blogger has been frelled for large sections of this weekend. Unfortunately, I have not had the chance to figure it out for myself. Both my desktop and my laptop were introduced to Microsoft Broadband Networking, and promptly decided that they no longer could see the Ethernet connection to the cable modem. I have been busily saving as much as possible before re-doing my hard drive on the desktop. And I haven't put Office back on the laptop yet, so I am prone to spelling mistakes right now.

I might pop my head up by the end of today, if I can get all this work done. Anybody have any knowledge regarding Linux, and whether it would be better for me to use than WinDoze? And how much of a headache it will be to install and troubleshoot and use going forward? It looks like it's almost time to switch to a new operating system around here - and WinDoze XP is definitely not the way to go in my eyes. Feel free to email me with any suggestions or comments concerning this situation.

Stay tuned, campers. I'm sure there will be more adventures to tell you about real soon.

Late Breaking Update:I think the Funny Farm Portablte Computing Device, affectionately known as HAL2003 by the proprietors, has somewhat settled down. If anyone knows how to get a five year old Compaq Presario 1690 to recognize its' extended memory in WinDoze ME, let me know. Or knows of another operating system that will work well to let an AMD 400mHz laptop with a (slow) DVD player and 128 MB of RAM (64 base and 64 extended), drop me a line.
